- Made from a blend of tencel and hemp.
Tencel is part of the Lyocell family and one of the most environmentally friendly fabrics available. Tencel is regenerated from sustainably-grown wood cellulose and all of the chemicals used in its production are non-toxic. The cellulose is treated in a closed-loop system, which means no waste is produced and the solvents are recycled with a recovery rate of 99.5%. The plant in which Tencel is produced is run on 100% recovered energy from solid waste.
Tencel is more absorbent than cotton, softer than silk and cooler than linen, making it perfect for travel.
Tencel will also completely biodegrade in six weeks when composed correctly, so that any fabric scraps are decomposed naturally.
Hemp has a long history of use as a fibre, having been cultivated for thousands of years. The fibre produced from pure hemp is similar to linen in texture and has various natural advantages, such as keeping you warm in winter, cool in summer, and even providing protection from UV rays.
A densely growing plant, hemp literally chokes out any competing plants, meaning harsh chemical herbicides aren't necessary. It also naturally reduces pests, so no pesticides are needed. Amazingly, it also returns 60 to 70% of the nutrients it takes from the soil.
Not only is hemp gentle on the earth, it also requires very little water, particularly when compared to cotton. Hemp also requires a relatively small amount of land to cultivate.
Each Tasi piece is handmade to order with love and care, so we recommend washing and handling your Tasi in the same way to ensure it lasts a lifetime.
The breathability of Tencel mean that you should be able to wear your Tasi item several times before it will need washing.
When you do need to wash, we recommend hand-washing and line drying in the shade (where possible). If you are using a washing machine, select a gentle cycle.
Tasi pieces can be ironed at medium temperature and tumble dried using a gentle cycle on normal temperature.
Do not use chlorine bleach on any of your Tasi pieces, as this can cause discolouration.
All Tasi Travels garments are handmade to order. Please allow up to 15 working days following order confirmation for your order to be shipped (although this can be slightly longer in busy periods). If you require your order by a certain date, please contact us prior to ordering.
